Hi Friends!
First off – thank you so much to those of you who shared your Thanksgiving experiences! It was so fun to read what everyone ate (and equally what you avoided). And even those of you who “fell off the wagon” really didn’t do too badly in my opinion. So congrats! And you can consider Thanksgiving a great practice run for Christmas and New Year’s Eve coming up :)
My curiosity for how it went for you really lies within the discussions that come up regarding paleo. I found that the more social situations I was in when I first started Paleo led me to do more and more reading and research so that I could truly explain why I choose certain foods over others. (I went to a few baby showers where all I indulged in was the drip coffee, and somehow that doesn’t go unnoticed!) And thus, the inspiration for this blog was born as well.
I wish people would understand if I said something as basic as, “I choose nutritious foods over foods that are less nutritious.” But, my experience has taught me it’s just not that simple to reverse, wipe out, and reeducate several years of incorrect knowledge about nutrition. Sigh. Hopefully a few people read this blog and learn a thing or two :)
And if not, here’s at least something that might make you giggle and cheer you up this weekend. Maybe it doesn’t paint paleo or crossfit in the best light, but if you’re a part of either world or both, you’re sure to enjoy this. Jake shared it with me late last night, and I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants.
So here’s to you, wetting yours :)
Happy eating :) Joey
I’ve pretty much stopped trying to explain why I eat how I eat to other people. The ones I see on a regular basis no longer feign interest anymore as they gobble down their Doritos and it always seems awkward when trying to explain it to strangers.
Joey, where are you?! I know, I know, it’s the holidays and you’re busy, but I NEED more recipes! I don’t know what it is about your blog, but I love every recipe I make. I’m guessing it’s a mix of healthy ingredients (which I know are Paleo), attractive photography, and honest kitchen testing that makes me swoon.
I’m making Shelley’s meatballs with marinara tonight, but I’ll probably gobble those up quickly, too! Come back!

I was on vacation! And I’m not sorry… it was well-needed! I don’t have a lot of new recipes… we eat the same stuff over and over again in this house, but I will continue to post anything new & exciting that I come across :)
I’ve seen that little movie before — and like you I laughed so hard I almost embarrassed myself — then I had to go change my facebook picture!
